Melissa is an attorney who practices Estate Planning and Family Law. She is licensed to practice law throughout the state of California and authorized to represent clients in federal court in the Southern District of California and immigration court.
Melissa earned her Juris Doctorate degree with a Certificate in Criminal Law and Policy from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2017. While in law school, she completed certified legal internships in the Criminal Divisions of both the U.S. Attorney’s and San Diego District Attorney’s Offices. She also completed a year long certified legal internship at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law’s Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic (VLAC), which provides pro-bono legal services to residents and alumni of the Veterans Village of San Diego (VVSD). Melissa’s internship with the VLAC earned her a Veterans Clinic Alumni Scholarship.
Prior to attending law school, Melissa served in the U.S. Army as a Logistician and Information Operations Officer. Her service includes a combat tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) where she earned a Bronze Star while serving with the 1-502 Infantry Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne (Air Assault). During that tour, her unit earned a Valorous Unit Award and two Presidential Unit Citations. Her service also includes a Humanitarian Civic Assistance (HCA) deployment to Guatemala as part of Operation Beyond the Horizon (BTH).
Melissa also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and minor in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
In her free time, Melissa likes to travel and hike with her dog Chalupa, scuba dive, and throw at Scottish Highland Games.
